Bounce launches in Nairobi
It was great to be able to launch our programs in Nairobi, Kenya this week after 12 months preparation and training local youth coaches to deliver the programs. The programs will engage a range of young people in Nairobi, Kenya through a partnership with Vijana Amani Pamoja (VAP). Using resiliency principles, skills and training learned on a basketball court the programs focus on positive health and well-being, social connection, teamwork and the development of resiliency and employability skills.
Our local partner Vijana Amani Pamoja (VAP) is a Kenyan community organisation founded to support young people’s health and wellbeing. Their mission is to integrate social and economic values through football by creating a pro-active health environment. Their programs encourage healthy, active lifestyles through football and support young people with future skills for life. Through the partnership with Bounce we have now trained more than 15 coaches and provide basketball resileincy programming and ongoing training to deliver the programs together in the region, overseen by Global Ambassador and former Harlem Globetrotter Tracy Williams.
The partnership has been designed to achieve the key objectives of the Stand Tall resiliency basketball programs:
- Deliver both on and off court activities including basketball skills & drills related to the development of resiliency and employability skills for young people.
- Build the capacity of local youth coaches to facilitate programs to motivate and inspire participants.
- Impact the lives of young people aged 12-19 years in Nairobi, Kenya.
We are excited to launch the programs including the Breakfast Club program and elite women’s programs and look forward to the ongoing partnership into the future.

With a focus on Indigenous and culturally diverse communities, including newly arrived refugees, we aim to move young people toward a more positive future through the development of sports, education and employment focused social programs. The programs are delivered in partnership with sporting organisations, engaging professional athletes alongside our youth workers to motivate and inspire participants.
