CANBERRA LAUNCH OF STAND TALL PROGRAM

NBL Hall of Famer Cal Bruton has been one of our great partners as the Stand Tall Program Director and is set to expand the programs reach with the launch of the Stand Tall program in Canberra tomorrow.

The Stand Tall initiative consists of basketball and leadership programs for young people, with a focus on Indigenous and Culturally Diverse groups, including newly arrived refugees. The initiative aims to deliver the Stand Tall strength based programs to develop life and leadership skills, using basketball as a means of engagement and providing an impacting experience that inspires participants to set goals and be motivated about their own future.

The launch of the Stand Tall program will take place at St.Francis Xavier College with a group of newly arrived refugee, humanitarian background, and Indigenous students, with participants set to enjoy inspiring and engaging activities and hear inspirational life messages delivered by one of the Legends of basketball in Australia.

Aimed at empowering young people through the promotion of healthy lifestyle, positive education and employment pathways, the program will include Cal Bruton conducting a basketball clinic, sharing pro basketball tips as well as personal life experiences.

Cal Bruton said “It’s wonderful to use my skills and experience to be a positive influence with young people. I hope the students involved will have take aways from the program that they can apply in their everyday lives throughout the future.”

We are looking forward to working with the young people in Canberra.
