International Womens Day 2019

2 x Olympic medallist Jenni Screen spent time on International Womens Day along with former Boomer Neil Mottram to inspire young women in the Stand Tall program in Sydney. Sharing stories with the young women, Jenni spent time both on and off the court identifying ways to inspire and empower women as part of the days program. Jenni is a 2 times Olympic medallist and former Opal, having achieved at the highest levels of the sport.

The Stand Tall initiative is a basketball and leadership program for young people, with a focus on Indigenous and Culturally Diverse groups, including newly arrived refugees. The initiative aims to deliver a Stand Tall strength based program to develop life and leadership skills, using basketball as a means of engagement and providing an impacting experience that inspires participants to set goals and be motivated about their own future. The programs include both on and off court activities including basketball skills & drills.

It was great to have all the young women involved on the program and we are planning on launching a new womens resiliency basketball program in the coming months for these and other young women across Sydney.
