NBA, SYDNEY KINGS & CHARITY BOUNCE JOIN FORCES FOR INAUGRAL JR. NBA CLINIC IN SYDNEY
Forty children from disadvantaged communities across Sydney will join NBA legend Bruce Bowen and members of the Sydney Kings and Sydney Uni Flames for a Jr. NBA clinic at King George V Recreation Centre, on Tuesday, 28 June.
This will be the first time the NBA has conducted a Jr. NBA clinic in Sydney, with Charity Bounce bringing young people from across the city to learn directly from some of the biggest names in basketball.
Bruce Bowen is a three-time champion with the San Antonio Spurs (2003, 2005, 2007) and a five-time NBA All-Defensive team selection. He is regarded as one of the greatest defenders in NBA history with his #12 jersey retired by the San Antonio Spurs.
Joining Bowen will be NBL legend and Sydney Kings assistant coach Lanard Copeland.
Tuesday’s event will also mark the launch of Charity Bounce, a new not for profit organisation that has partnered with the Kings’ to develop a community program for players to help inspire positive change within Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse youth.
Copeland will be joined by current members of the Kings for this exciting youth initiative. The forty teenage participants in the Jr.NBA Clinic were chosen to participate by Charity Bounce from communities in Redfern, Belmore, Parramatta and Blacktown.
The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls, teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents.
