Stanford University – from the field to the free throw line.
It was fun times on the basketball court with Stanford University’s field hockey women’s team to inspire the athletes and promote the value of education to achieve at our Bounce Academy at Matraville sports High School. The players took time out from their playing schedule to take their skills from the field to the free throw line to inspire positive change.
The Stanford team participated in a resiliency basketball session where they learned some basketball basics as well as supporting the young men and women and promoting the importance of working hard, believing in yourself, and never giving up on a dream.
The Women’s Field Hockey with BOUNCE was more than just a fun program with former Harlem Globetrotter Tracy Williams sharing some of his time as a Globetrotter and the impact playing alongside the first ever female Harlem Globetrotter player to inspire the young women from Stanford and Matraville Sports High School.
There was plenty of opportunity to interact with the students as well as providing an opportunity to learn a lot about themselves and their capabilities as a team and what can be accomplished if you do not back down from a challenge.
After the program, the Field Hockey, the Stanford team headed to Sydney Olympic Park, where they played against the University of Technology, Sydney in the Hockey Centre. By trying new things, connecting as a team, and capitalising on their given opportunities, they fought hard to achieve a 4-1 win. #gostanford #inspiringpositivechange
Thanks to all the Stanford players and coaches for an amazing experience for the young men and women from the Bounce Academy program at Matraville Sports High School.
