Stand Tall with Jenni Screen at Matraville Sports High School
On Friday, Charity Bounce’s Stand Tall program traveled to the Matraville Sports High School with two ambassadors, Jenni Screen and Tracy Williams, who talked and ran basketball drills with boys from the school.
Screen, a two-time Olympic medalist with The Opals, traveled from Melbourne for the event. For an hour-and-a half, she discussed the value of teamwork, and how each member has a unique strength to bring to the team. As a 15-year veteran who played overseas in Italy, Screen emphasized how the lessons she took from the basketball court translated to success off the court. While she was playing professionally, she earned a Master’s Degree in Strength and Conditioning.
Just for added emphasis, she brought out her Olympic medals to show the kids!

Tracy Williams
Tracy also did more than just coach basketball drills, as he talked with the boys about a variety of skills that apply both to basketball and the real-world. He mentioned his background from playing with Michael Jordan in high school to his experience with the Harlem Globetrotters while connecting with the students. He also expressed to the boys about how basketball is a team sport and every person has a unique and important role on the team, characteristics that are essential on and off the court.
After the introductions, the ambassadors ran the kids through multiple ball handling, shooting and hustle exercises. Screen participated with the boys, shooting jumpers from the corners of the free throw line, then grabbing the rebound and getting back in line. They participated in both individual and team drills, helping them improve on both personal and teamwork skills.
A big thanks to Matraville Sports High School for having us and the impressive on and off court attitude of all the students involved made it a great experience for our Ambassadors.
