STAND TALL LAUNCHES IN CANBERRA
Yesterday saw the launch of our newest Stand Tall program in Canberra with one of our favourite coaches, NBL Hall of Famer Cal ‘the Black Pearl’ Bruton. The launch of the Stand Tall program took place at St.Francis Xavier College with a group of newly arrived refugee, humanitarian background, and Indigenous students. A big thanks to Leilah Ayton the Inclusive Education Educator who has worked together with Charity bounce to launch the weekly program. The participants will be a part of the weekly program and are set to enjoy inspiring and engaging activities and hear inspirational life messages delivered by Cal Bruton, who is one of the Legends of basketball in Australia.
The Stand Tall initiative consists of basketball and leadership programs for young people, with a focus on Indigenous and Culturally Diverse groups, including newly arrived refugees. The initiative aims to deliver the Stand Tall strength based programs to develop life and leadership skills, using basketball as a means of engagement and providing an impacting experience that inspires participants on and off the court to set goals and be motivated about their own future.
Chief Executive Officer of Charity Bounce, Ian Heininger said, “We hope that the program inspires the young people to dream bigger about their own future and to be empowered to chase their dreams and create opportunities for themselves. We always aim to inspire positive change for young people and hope to see some of the participants become the next generation of leaders in Canberra and beyond.”
We are looking forward to hearing some of the great stories and positive outcomes achieved through the program for the young people in Canberra.
