Women’s Panel – Alanna Smith and Kayla Franchesca
We were very appreciative of WNBA player Alanna Smith giving up her time to speak on our Instagram Live Women’s Panel session on Thursday 25/3 at 4 PM! Don’t miss out on our next piece of interesting content; follow us at instagram.com/charitybounce to set reminders via our stories and tune into the live chat when it starts.
Alanna is an Australian professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the Stanford Cardinals.
After a season abroad in South Korea, Smith returned home to Australia after signing with the Adelaide Lightning for the 2020–21 WNBL season.
Hosting her is Kayla Franchesca, who grew up as an ice hockey player for the Philippines National Team and a sports reporter for the UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines) Basketball League. She moved to Sydney in 2017 to pursue her passion with working in the sports industry and helping athletes.
While still currently playing hockey for the Philippines and New South Wales, Kayla went on to become a reporter for the AIHL (Australian Ice Hockey League), a Floor Director for the Sydney Kings – NBL (National Basketball League) and now works and helps to develop the growth of athletes, sport programs and organisations as a Sport Development Producer and Social Media Consultant for companies such as Charity Bounce and Voice In Sport.
She also gives her time to the kids at Sydney Children’s Hospital and started her dream project last year called Athletes Podium where she promotes up and coming athletes by sharing their story and journey with the aim to inspire and motivate others.
