Women’s Week Panel: Rebecca Cole

Women’s Week Panel: Rebecca Cole

For our first Women’s Week Panel guest, we are so honoured to have Australian Professional Basketball Player, Rebecca Cole.

Rebecca plays as a starting shooting guard for the Southside Flyers in the WNBL and a member of both the Australian 3×3 National team and the Australian Opals.

Cole was selected in the WNBL All-Star team and was named MVP for the FIBA 3×3 2019 tournament being named as one of the “10 Women Who Defined 3×3 in 2019”. Cole is also the Ambassador for Lymphoma Australia.

Hosted by our very own Sabera, an Afghan refugee who has just turned 17. Her family fled Afghanistan and moved to Australia when she was 12 years old, in the hope of a peaceful life.

Soon after arriving in Sydney, she was introduced to basketball. Sabera now dreams of playing basketball at the highest level possible but also has a passion for writing poetry and fashion design.

She is one of many teenagers reaping the benefits of our programs.

About Charity Bounce

Charity Bounce is a not for profit organisation that exists to build resiliency and positive job futures for young people at -risk (12-24), using innovation through basketball to create ‘out of reach’ opportunities that inspire and motivate change. With a focus on Indigenous and culturally diverse communities, including newly arrived refugees, we aim to move young people toward a more positive future through the development of sports, education and employment focused social programs. The programs are delivered in partnership with sporting organisations, engaging professional athletes alongside our youth workers to motivate and inspire participants.

We have a 100% public donation model where private donors cover 100% of the management and administration expenses of Charity Bounce. These private donors invest into our long-term mission, our ability to scale as an organisation, and our commitment to using 100% of public donations for direct program delivery.
